‘Why I joined Tomorrow Health’ by Rodrigo Arévalo, Chief Operating Officer

My entire career has been about building — building systems, teams, and processes from nothing to something. At Uber, where I spent six and a half years, I was responsible for building the company’s Latin American business from the ground up as the first employee in the region. I was fortunate enough to work with incredible people, learned how to build marketplaces at the intersection of bits and atoms, and was able to see first hand what hypergrowth looked like. In July of 2021, I joined Tomorrow Health as its Chief Operating Officer — I wanted to share why Tomorrow Health was the clear next step in my journey.

I’ve realized that I find a lot of joy in serving others. I put my heart and soul into trying to provide the best experience possible to the customers that my team is serving. Getting positive feedback from customers motivates me the most, and conversely, I focus relentlessly on getting to the bottom of an issue whenever I get negative feedback from customers. Serving patients and having their backs when it comes to their healthcare-at-home needs is, in my view, one of the most noble forms of service.

I experienced first hand how difficult it is for patients to manage their healthcare at home. I lost my father to cancer in August of 2020, and I saw how heartbreakingly challenging it was for him to procure and coordinate all the supplies and services he needed between chemo sessions. Having to work this hard while barely being able to stay awake is something no patient should ever have to go through.

I’m a builder at heart. I love to figure out problems that haven’t been solved before and I enjoy building amazing teams in the process. Tomorrow Health is building the operating system for healthcare at home, and the past 18 months have shown us how important it is to manage our health from the place we want to be the most — home.

I like to solve hard problems. The harder it is, the more fun I tend to have. Solving healthcare in the United States has to be one of the most difficult problems out there. At Tomorrow Health, we’re re-architecting the home-based care ecosystem by building a platform to holistically streamline the coordination and management of quality home medical equipment, supplies and services. With thoughtful technology and integrations with a wide range of major industry stakeholders, Tomorrow Health is uniquely positioned to transform home-based care delivery at scale. It will be incredibly difficult to achieve all of this, but this is why I’m so excited in the first place.

I am incredibly excited to join Tomorrow Health to build the vision of better healthcare at home. If you’d like to join me in this mission, please check out our open roles.
